This Lid Is Not Recyclable
Self briefed university project
We as consumers don’t consider the afterlife of “disposable” plastics we put in the bin and recycling bin; they can end up in third world countries, incinerators, and eventually in the ocean. Our recycling system in the UK can’t keep up with the rate at which we produce plastic waste, and no one thinks about it…
Therefore, I have created an additional classification system for “disposable” plastics to the current uninformative one, warning the consumer of the dangers of the plastic they are using. The symbols would be placed in tactical locations where users would unavoidably see them; such as on cup lids and bottle caps. This would be have to be supported by the government, so I created a mock leaflet in their style that would be received through your letter box. Explaining the new symbols that would be appearing on plastic products.
